Lost or Damaged Items

If you lose or damage a library item, you will be billed the cost of the item ($75 average) plus any overdue fines (25¢ per day per item) and the processing fee ($25).

If you have been billed for a lost book and still have it, you can return it to avoid replacement fees. Please contact User Services at library@clemson.edu

University approved replacement rates will be applied for all late, damaged, and lost materials, and all payments must be submitted online as directed in overdue and replacement Libraries communications. Any patron owing more than $20.00 in Clemson University Libraries fees will not be allowed to borrow materials until the debt is settled.

See our Circulation Policies for more details.

Replacing Lost or Damaged Items

In order to replace a lost or damaged item, you must purchase an item of the same edition or later. You must also pay any extra fees associated with the item (such as a binding fee if a paperback is substituted for a hard-bound) plus the processing fee and any applicable overdue fines. Popular reading audiobooks cannot be replaced by patrons and will be ordered by the library.
