How do I know if a work is copyrighted?

Answer

A work is protected by copyright as soon as it is it is created.

It is not necessary for the author to register the work or apply the copyright symbol (©) in order to be eligible for protection. While there are a few general exceptions, you should always assume that a work is protected by copyright.
